Because it's just a very simple fact. It's the same as people who feel a difference when they put high octane gas in their car. They thing there will be a performance increase therefore in your mind, you feel it. It's not there. It changed nothing, whether you think you feel it or not. It's all in your head.

We don't hate CAI's. There's a bunch of us that point out how useless they are and back it up with facts and science. That isn't hating. Its information and it's to save people money on something that is useless. There are a few other people that blindly defend them for no reason. It does often turn into an argument, but it's one we always win because we have facts and science on our sides.

That dyno chart is not for a Ford Ranger with your engine and your components. It's meaningless. Doing that test on your truck will show that the gain is NOTHING. I know this because people here have done it and proven it. And more often than not, you end up with a loss since they suck more hot air from under the hood than fresh air from outside. Drawing air that is 180-200 degrees creates a significant loss in power.

Our intakes are not a point of restriction. There are plenty of other vehicles out there that are and would benefit from an aftermarket intake. We are not one of them. We are lucky. You can spend the money on something useful instead.

Your right and this one is:

Doing that test on your truck will show that the gain is NOTHING.

Probably nothing on the F150 also, who knows if after installing that filter they gave the truck timing, pulled some fuel or adjusted any other parameters. I've can't remember ever seeing a open element filter help ANY car I've dyno tested when it was the only thing changed. If it did then it must have been pretty weak in terms of improvement.

And - the 9hp or what (I forget) the F150 gained would be invisible to you. You can't feel 9hp. I can barely feel 50ft-lb of torque and even that isn't a huge difference. Maybe I'm my senses have been dulled from testing 5-6-700 horsepower cars all the time. Torque is what you feel, not power.

WOW!...Okay..So...I am glad I haven't made any rash decisions as to my intake, but I am going to do the intake mod tomorrow, as well as a K&N filter. I put a K&N air filter on my Harley and noticed alot of difference and it did show on the dyno, but I don't know shit about a cai. What difference can I expect to notice just doing the intake mod?

By intake mod, are you referring to the air silencer removal thing? If so, the only effect is sound. Nothing else. It is not a performance mod. It is just sound. Hence the name of the device is the SILENCER tube.

As has been said 147 times, air filters and intake mods will not add any performance to a stock engine at all.

K&N will show no improvement, just like the graph shows.

Removing the airbox snorkel just makes it sound louder, it has no impact on anything besides sound on the truck.

I think it might serve to help prevent water from getting into the intake box as well.

And when you show us dyno results of your truck with real scientific controls, it will matter. A marketing department can make a dyno sheet show whatever they want and people will believe it. Really, you're trying to argue that you improved something that isn't improvable. You could put a 24" storm drain pipe on it and it won't make a difference to a stock engine.
