Default Coolant Leak

What I thought was a simple coolant leak near the water pump, turned out to be a full day repair for a 10 cent paper gasket. 2002 XLT 3.0, leaked behind the timing chain cover. Holy cow, what a pain to fix. Next project, rear main seal, any advice?
