Unhappy A/C-Heater Controller issue

Hey there. I'm new to this forum.
Have just purchased a second hand 2008 Ford Ranger XL4. I'm just now reading that the Ford Ranger has always had a lot of heating/cooling issues... especially with the blend door inside the plenum.... which seams to be a constant complaint for a lot of Ranger owners.
Well, I also have just 2 temps. Full-on heat or medium cool A/C. I've already removed the blend door actuator, and the blend door is working fine. It isn't broken. But the actuator is not working. How do I tell if it is the actuator or if it is simply not receiving any current? My next step is to test the eight-pin connector for power with a DVOM. Does anybody out there know what the voltage should read for each of the 5 pins? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well I'd say 99% chance there wiring and power is fine. The actuator is known for toasting itself. You're the third one in a month I think. Save yourself the effort and just swap it out. For testing I don't know the voltages, however if it were a problem, it would likely be all or nothing.

Do a search on the 'net for "diagnosing Ford's electronic blend door actuator for manual air condidtioning"

That should give an option to access a page by CarQuest, which has a nice diagram and pin connections including the needed voltages.

My understanding is that these must be tested with the actuator plugged in, but I am not sure. Anyway you will need to remove the actuator to do this.

A 1/4 drive ratchet will help on the back side bolt if you have that type.

What I don't know is if there is some component inbetween the thermostat control (hot/cold, which I also replaced) and the actuator. Mine is not getting the 12 volts on pin 7, which kills the whole thing.

Still looking. I hope this helps.
