Default No Hot Air

It's getting close to winter time and I simply wanted to make sure my heating was working on my truck. Unfortunately it seems the temp. is not getting any cooler. Any suggestions on fixing this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Heat will not work in Max AC first, so make sure you aren't trying to do that.

If the thermostat on the engine is stuck open the engine will not warm up. Look at the engine temp gauge and see if it is climbing up to normal or sitting down on cold. If it is sitting on cold all the time, then you need to replace the t-stat. This will fix the problem.

There is a valve on the heater hose under the hood at the firewall. This valve has a spring that defaults to open. When set for MAX AC or OFF, this vacuum operated valve will close. If this valve gets jammed shut, then no hot water will flow to the heater core. If the return hose is not hot, then the chances are this valve is stuck shut. You can pull the vacuum line off and shove a screwdriver in it to push it open sometimes. You can also remove the valve completely and just plug the vacuum line. It is kind of pointless anyway.

If the valve is not jammed shut and you still have a cold return line, then the heater core is probably clogged. You can try disconnected hoses and backflushing it with a hose. Or replace it.

If both hoses are hot, then you have a good flow of hot coolant. The blend door servo is probably dead. This is accessible under the dash by removing the glove box. It has a bunch of wires going to it and is attached to the side of the heater box. If you put your hand on it, you should be able to feel it moving as you adjust the temp knob. If it doens't work, then replace it. Cheap and easy.

There isn't really anything else that can prevent you from having heat.

fireranger covered it all..............you should create a vehicle profile, use mine as a template..........it helps a lot whendiagnoxing problems................if you still have an isue after doing what

Fireranger suggested you might want to backflush the heater core........
