Need a bit more info to go on here. The Ranger has had quite a few different engines over the years and the layout is different between them.
With that being said, maybe a vacuum line is contacting the exhaust or the EGR line. Also check your electrical connection on your blower motor resistor (passenger side below the blower motor). When I was changing mine out, I found that the connector had shorted due to corrosion and moisture and melted the plug.
