well the nearest one to me is about 10 minutes away rough estimate. Sunoco does indeed have the best gasoline out there. Look closely at your local gas pumps when you get a chance because alot of people are starting to go 100% gasoline instead of the sludge mixture that they're normally getting. Ethanol is bad news to me period.

yeah a few places still had 100% gas for awhile around up until about 6 months ago, but now theyve all gone to 10% ethanol ive checked everyone i know of. hopefully they will go back to 100% gas soon. it would take me close to half a tank to get to the closest sunoco that i know of

Every sunoco in my area has the 10% ethanol sticker on the pump. I always go to BP as they dont have the sticker on the pump and I'm pretty sure they're required to put it on there if the gas contains ethanol. I also seem to get better mileage from BP gas...

You'd better check again my friend. Cause the Sunoco where I go has a huge sign on each pump that a blind man can see that says NO ETHANOL. And signs all over the place that says: 100 % Gasoline no ethanol. BP does use ethanol. The worst gasoline you can use is SHELL. Plus every Sunoco that I've been to as far south as Georgia have all said the same thing. You might be looking at an OLD PUMP. Plus NASCAR hates ethanol with a passion. They want 100% gasoline. Along with the SCCA, National Autosport Asscoiation (N.A.S.A) and a few others will only use Sunoco because of this. You might want to ask them about that sticker. THEY MIGHT BE A SUNOCO STATION, BUT DON'T CARRY THE SUNOCO FUEL. For example: here in my area Chevron gas stations have been bought out by Road Runner Markets, BUT THEY NEVER SWITCHED THE FUEL OR THE SIGNS. Now do you get it. The Sunoco where I go is BRAND NEW period. New pumps, tanks everything.

They might be going back sooner than you think. Ethanol is basicly "POISONED MOONSHINE". If it's not made consistanly then the results vary. A local outfit here is being sued in court for alot of major auto repairs, and making alot of people sick from where they make the shit. Basicly alot of automakers have quit making flex fueled vehicles because of the unpredictable nature of ethanol. The stuff performs great when it's made right but it burns way too fast and your mpgs suffer tremendously.

It's actually probably not going away. I agree with your statement, but there's a big push for "greener" fuels. And it gives companies a tax break for making ethanol for fuel. I believe it was also metioned to me that it is a federal mandate that 10% of fuel be ethanol. Also in some states cough* Iowa*Cough where they love corn it is the law. Washington as well.

When sunoco stopped using MTBE they started adding ethanol to their gasoline. Check out Sunoco USA's Corporate responsibility report/environmental performance:

http://hesreport.sunocoinc.com/fw/ma...Fuels-803.html

What state do you live in? You'd be surprised how many states do not require that a pump be labeled as to it's ethanol content....

Also look at this article about sunocos acquisition of an ethanol plant in New York. What would Sunoco want with an ethanol plant if it wasn't planning to add it to their gasoline?

yeah i was getting about 24 mpg in town on 100% gas, but now i get 20 mpg on 10% ethanol, so i would love for them to go back to 100% gas but i dont think they will because of all this green crap, but i hope im wrong

Trust me this is 100% gasoline here at my Sunoco in Virginia. The tanks are brand new. The EPA here makes Barney Fife look like a prissy little school girl. Yes it does depend on where you live, but each state has it's own mandate. Your's might be 10% ethanol. But I have had several gasoline station owners tell me this too: They just put the sticker on to keep the fed's off their backs. The sticker that says the ethanol content. I've been to 48 states, and driven in 4 foreign countries. The flexfuel vehicles may be the reason why sunoco bought that plant.

So you noticed a huge difference in the performance and the mpgs as well too.

Yep. all of this crap concerning global warming (my ass), and greener fuels is making me sick. If this global warming was true then we wouldn't have seen snow in Tampa, FLorida this year. My little brother said that people were going crazy and he loved watching every minute of it while he was working in Tampa that day. It would be great if we can make our own gasoline which I think we can. *****READ MY NEXT POST PLEASE*****

Default making our own...

I just had a hell of an idea on how we can make our own gasoline and not have to rely on other countries for oil PERIOD. What's the one thing we use day in and day out that gets changed every 3 to 5000 miles? That's easy: ENGINE OIL. They say they recycle it. I wonder what would be involved in getting everyone to switch to PURE SYNTHETIC OIL, and taking the used oil and make GASOLINE out of it? Here's why I say pure synthetic oil. The synthetic is 100% man made in a lab. the other oil is petroleum based which requires crude oil to make. Get it? that right there might be the answer to some problems which might help out our economy too. Think about it. Wouldn't it be nice to have super low priced gasoline that won't break the bank, and a high quality gasoline that won't destroy engine like the ethanol does over a long periods of time (it cooks the valves very badly)? The ethanol crap basicly is for ultra high compression engines. Every Flexfueled vehicle that can use both usually requires PREMIUM GASOLINE to run ordinary pump gas because of a 11.2:1 compression ratio. Any higher than that and you won't be able to use pump gas at all. That costs you more money at the pump than the 87 octane. Some people say it's only 20 cents more. But they fail to see the BIG PICTURE. 20 CENTS MORE ON THE GALLON, NOT ON THE TOTAL PRICE. People who usually start to complain usually get quiet when I mention "MATHEMATICAL PROGRESSION" after they paid nearly $10 bucks more than I did at the pump. my question is this: WHY HASN'T ANYONE IN THE FEDERAL GOVT, OR ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD FOR THAT MATTER EVER THOUGHT OF THIS?

Well for starters I don't believe its even possible to convert used motor oil into gasoline. Though just for shits and giggles lets assume there is a method to do just that. We'll also assume that this method is 100% efficient: that is for every quart of oil you would yield a quart of gasoline. The majority of gasoline engines hold 5 or less quarts of oil (diesel is another story). So assuming everyone cooperated with this plan each person would have 5 or less quarts of gasoline which would be burned in a week max. Now what? All engines would now be running synthetic so after that 5 quarts is gone there is no more gas left unless we start importing again.

yeah my engine hates it. but i built an engine for my roomates 95 cobra this past summer and its a 306 and i got the compression up to 10.96:1 by my figuring and it loves it, it runs alot better on 10% ethanol it has more power and more mpg on it, but my 9.08:1 compression doesnt like it at all.

as far as turning old engine oil into gas i believe it would be possible but i think it would be too expensive to refine it into gas, but maybe im wrong

I finally found ethanol free gas in southwestern PA. QuikFill/Red Apple stations are owned by the United Refining Company in Warren PA which does not, as of yet, add ethanol to their gas. It looks like their exploring the possibility of starting in 2011 but until then I'm not buying gas anywhere else. They also distribute to some citgo and keystone stations.
