Question Installing a 1997 3.0 engine into a 1994 ranger

I have a 1994 ranger x-cab 4x4 that does not currently have an engine in it. It does have a tranny and all electrical wiring ect. I have an 1997 3.0 engine I bought to install in the vehicle. Both my vehicle and the motor I bought are automatic. The engine I bought is from a 2wd. Someone said I may have to replace the oil pan on the 2wd motor for it to fit. Can anyone help answer this and are there any other issues with compatibility? All help greatly appreciated. I have the haynes manual but it is vauge.
