Default This really has me stumped about the CC recall

if only vehicles with CC are affected, why do vehicles without CC still have a deactivation switch installed? Is this similar to the reason my truck has plugs for fog lights at the bumper but no wiring for the switch inside the cabin?

cruise control you nooblet.

and ford uses alot of premade wiring looms, its cheaper to install all the same shit into a truck than it is to run individual looms

Because that statement is not correct.

2001~2003 Rangers also use the Deactivator Switch as a direct input to the 4WABS Module. Since 4WABS is standard on all 2001+, all 2001~2003 have the DS regardless of whether speed control is installed or not.

Oh wow, thank you so much! So in that case is it still "hot" at all times?

2003 is hot only when the ignition is on and it has its own dedicated 2amp fuse (#6 in the dash fuse panel).

The original factory schematics show the 2001 and 2002 Ranger Deactivator Switch as always hot and sharing a 7.5A fuse with the Brake Pedal Position Switch. I've heard that the very last of the 2002's got the improved 2003 setup but i don't have any documentation that proves it.

The 2003 model year schematic was published in 2002 as well and all 2003MY Rangers should have the improved system. If you want to verify it, check fuse position 6 in the dash box. Your 2003 should have a 2A fuse there.

Hey all. I realize this is an old post, but I'm currently having trouble with my 02 ranger xl, 2.3l, 5 speed. This truck has 4WABS and CC. I'm blowing the 7.5a fuse in position 9 on the in cabin fuse block and the CC does not work. As soon as I install a new fuse, it pops.
Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jim.

Has the Deactivation Switch recall been done yet? There should be no expiration date for a safety recall like this.
