If i have the k&n fipk installed and run a custom pvc tube from the slit in the bumper up to the cone filter, would that really change the amount air getting sucked it or is it probably doing all it can on its own?

If the cone filter is open, not in some kind of sealed box, then you've accomplished nothing. If it is in a box, and the PVC leads to that box, chances are the bends in the pipe negate any possible gain.

Not a good plan. The metal will heatsoak & transfer the heat into the duct. Beside these motors are so weak its just not worth the effort.

Be careful with mounting the intake so low. go through a deep puddle you'll suck up water like Diet Coke through a straw and hydro-lock the motor. Happened to a guy I know with his Nissan 240. not pretty.

Use pvc or metal as straight as possible then coat it in ceramic paint inside and out.

I might just do a drop in filter with ducting to vent cold air into the wheel well less risky with water and still straight as possible

Untill you drive through the first rain storm. An incredible amount of water is sprayed into the wheel wells by your tires..... You'll hyrdo lock it the first time it gets wet.

Just do the drop in and take the silencer out, done.

Hydro lock won't occur unless the opening of the vent is completely submerged under water. Sprays of water , no matter how much, is too heavy to pull in through the filter.

You can add a smaller breather filter at the top to prevent that from happening at all.

All that it takes to hyro lock and engine is enough water to fill 1 cylinder's clearance volume (volume left at top dead center). That volume is about 45-80cc. That's about 1/4 cup of water needed in 1 cylinder to hyrdo lock it.

I've taken many engine classes getting my mechanical engineering degree, please take my word. I'd hate to see someone loose an engine trying to find 5 extra horsepower that aren't really there. It's just not worth it.
