2003 Ranger idle issue
I have a 2003 Ford Ranger XLT with the 3.0 L V6 OHV (not flex fuel.) 5 speed transmission in the truck.
This may have been covered before and I have read the MAF/IAC cleaning threads but before I start spending I want to make sure I'm on the right track.
Here's what's happening, while driving the idle will randomly stick or rev when I push in the clutch if it goes over 2000rpm. This is not constant however and happens regardless of whether or not I'm running the AC, however seems to occur more often if running the AC. Seems to occur more on hot and humid days but I've had it happen when it's been relatively cool as well. I'm looking at replacing the IAC, cleaning the MAF, and possibly either cleaning or replacing the IAT. I can't afford the MAF right now but can afford the other two.
Once the idle sticks it sticks constantly until I turn the truck off. Occasionally I have to upshift to force the idle down while driving and have changed my normal shifting patterns to try to compensate for this.
Before this started happening my normal idle while not moving with AC seemed to be about 800ish, now it's about 1000ish.
