Have been away from working on truck and cars for a long time. Never touched any of this sensor stuff or FI. So your write up was simple and straight to the point and for some unknown reason easy as hell to understand. Thanks.

Nice write up, right to the point and easy to understand. FORD had a better idea that time when they designed the intake system which is hard to improve upon. Your choice of filter is the only mod that might help some.

Thanks for the write up.

Would this also be true if going with a full dual exhaust (including headers).
Wanting to get a little more power. The amount of $ is not an issue, but dont want to buy things that have no power gains!
Thanks!!
i'm gonna guess, that ford matched the flow in with the flow out from the factory, when adding extra flow in, or out, for best results you must do both
i'd find it hard to believe that if using full headers and duals, allowing way more flow out,
that more flow in does nothing ???
this is all of course if the valve train can handle the extra in and out,
or are these heads/valves the weak link here ????

if thats the case, then duals are only for sound too, not performance ????

Well, if I can't add anything to the intake or exhaust... what if I mounted a JATO in the bed?!

I think it would probably jettison the body right off the frame. But I'd like to see it so go for it.

What about putting a snorkel on? What is the best way to do it without affecting the air flow?

I have a kit on my truck, it pipes to the stock air box and runs to the cowling by the windsheild. There is a door of sorts that can close off the stock port to seal up the air box. With the door open, it sucks from stock and the snorkel

Ok, I'm thinking of doing something similar based on my research today but i was wondering what about when it rains? Doesnt stuff still get in there? I really like that idea for the truck though keeping the outside looking clean and the intake up high. I need to keep the mud and water out of my air box.

the solution would be to drill holes in the bottom of the PVC. any water that got in would drian out

Ok I can probably do that... My dad suggested putting a head on it like a snorkel head... It would look a little weird but what snorkel doesn't? I am really liking the general idea though!

I wish I had read this a few years ago, before I bought my FIPK K&N CAI kit.... Good to know for future vehicles and what-not. Nice write up, and it all makes sense once you think about it.
