Default a/c problem!

I have a 94 ranger with the 2.3l in it. It is supercab and has a manual tranny. The air hasn't worked n a couple of years and i just never messed with it. I put some r-134a in it yesterday and the compressor came back on and seemed to be running fine, but its not blowing any cold air. The clutch kicks on about every 5 secs by my count. Does anybody have any suggetions? Thanks for any help you can provide!

make sure the truck is on when your putting the r-134a
when the truck is off your using the pressure inside the can to push the freon in the system and its not strong enough
when the truck is on the compressor will suck the freon out of the can
