Default 1992 ranger squeaking

I have a 1992 ranger 3.0 that is squeaking like pulley noise. I changeed out water pump and ideler pulley. Still squeaks, took belt off and started, squaking comming from passenger side. I went looking for camshaft synchronizer after reading other posts and do not belive the 1992 has one. Any one faced this issue? I am thinking distributor at this point?

I have been chasing this issue all around the motor until I took the belt off and started it. With all pulleys eliminated it still squeeks and then was able to relize that it was coming from distributor area. I went looking for a camshaft synchronizer and could not find one. Tried to order a camshaft syncro on line and at part store, could not find one.

I am thinking I have to change out the distributor completely. Has anyone done this on a 1992 3.0? How difficult was it? I have some skills but I have a severly messed up spine and I have spent a lot of time on top and under this motor already. I really appreciate the ideas and suggestions.

Most distrubutors I've seen are held in with two bolts and pull right out but beyond that, I can't help you. I would imagine you have to make sure the engine crank is in a specific position and the same with the distributor when installing it but that's only speculation since I've never had to change one.

Just finally fixed the squealing in my 99 ranger 4.0. I recently discovered that the ac compressor that I put in did not line up with my other pulleys. I had to cut 1/8 inch off the belt to make narrower. I already replaced water pump, idler pulley, tensioner, this was the only thing that worked.

That's not a long term fix. Is the compressor too far out or too far in, or is it tilted?

Unfortunatly I don't think I have much of a choice. The pulley sits back 1/8 too far, and I there is no way to adjust it. This was the only way to stop the squeal.
