Default 1990 Ford Ranger XLT won't start

A friend of mine and I are trying to get his old Ranger running instead of scrapping it. He recently bought a new truck and this ranger has sat for 3 or 4 months. We have put a new battery in it and still can't get it to start. When you turn the key over it does nothing at all. However the headlights and dash lights will come on. We also tried to push it a bit to see if the starter was stuck but still got nothing. Any suggestions??????

check the starter silenoid its right next to the battery looks like this
and my new one cost me like..14 bucks

also check the wires leading to the starter for cracks or cuts and the connection to the starter itself

I had a similar bug and it was a ground wire from Battery to Sidewall

try cleaning the battery posts, battery cables and ground really good. sounds like you got enough connection to turn on headlights but not enough to start it, just my two cents..
