OK my AC and heat both work OK, but the fan will only blow out of the defroster. Any ideas where I need to start to get the air blowing out of the other vents?

check you vacuum lines, the whole system is controled by vacuum, if you loss your vacuum it is go to defrost vents

Thx for the tip. The truck sat up for a while. When I got back to it, it had a plethora of problems. Been trying to go through them one by one. We'll see where I can get with this one. By the way where will the vacuum lines be located?

One suggestion never start AC directly let the car run for few minutes and then start the AC or hitter. This also reduce the problem in your AC and hitter...

Definately your vacuum lines. Had this same problem, though I got mine fixed professionally. Mine sat for a little under 2 with minimal use. Took it in and the lines got replaced.

found out what the problem was. i ended up having to replace the heater core for an unrelated issue and found a loose vaccum line that connected to that (forgive me) ball-shaped thing on the passenger side inner fender. everything works fine now
