Default Painting The 89

I decided that since i have the truck completely torn apart now would be the best time to paint it. I just have a few questions because i have never painted a truck before.
What is a good brand of paint to use?
What tools are required to paint it?
where can i get them?
what it is going to cost?
How difficult is it?
What else will i need?

I do not have a shop or anything to work in so I will have to do this outside. I am also looking to keep this as cheap as possible but still have it looking good in the end. any help and advice on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Jeremy

your going to need a decent paint gun (around like 200-300 bucks)
an air compressor
an dehumidifier for said air compressor
sandpaper of various grits and amounts ( like 50 bucks)
a paint prep (acetone is cheap and works good)
a gallon of paint tops (summit racing has an acryrlic urethane paint that starts out at like 80 bucks a gallon but you need an 20 dollar activator which gives you 5 quarts of useable paint and it dosent require a clear coat its what im going to use when i paint my truck and im going to put a clear on it that way i can get rid of surface scratches)
as for how to get the body ready for paint just take your time make sure everything is sanded down properly and it shouldnt be to difficult just remember a paint job is 90% prep work and 10% painting technique

Spend an afternoon digesting and taking notes here:
Click to View Search Results for painting your car - Google Search painting your car - Google Search
Car painting is a profession which can be learned easily when hanging around some pros if you approach them right. Some $500 of equipment will buy enough equipment which will last a lifetime. And you certainly have things around to practice on. Check with auto paint shops for excessive or extra paint they will give you to practice. Remember, the most important time should be spend on things which aren't seen. Undercoat etc. It's a worthy technique to pickup. GL

I painted my truck outside... i used a cheap gun from harbor frieght for $40... i already had and air compressor... spent about $40 bucks on sanding equipment... bought my paint, clear, reducer, and hardener from NAPA for about $150... I got a auto shop discount though cause my uncle has done business there for so long... my truck was pretty rough when I bought it so it took me about 150 hours or so of body work and prep to get it ready for paint. Check out my albums under my profile to get an idea of before and after.

This stuff called POR-15... is about the best you can get for rust blocking... but it is a little more expensive... i used rustoleum black (rolled on) for the frame under the bed...
