I have a 04 2wd ranger. I’ve had a popping noise coming from the front end for a few months now. It alternates sides and mainly only does it when I accelerate front a complete stop. Today I checked it out and both brake calipers are somewhat loose. I just changed the caliper guide pins back in April. When I replaced them I made sure the new and old were the same length. Everything else is tight as far as bolts go. The brakes work as the should. Should I be worried about this?
My '99 ranger 2wd is making popping noises on both sides. I jacked under the control arms and by pushing and pulling the tires at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions I discovered that my upper ball joints have play in them. I also had popping noises when I hit bumps until I replaced the shocks. I also had noise from the sway bar end links until I replaced them. This truck's front end is always talking to me.
