Power Steering Fluid Leak (Weep Hole)
Hello, I own a 1996 Ford Ranger, 2.3-liter engine. The other day, I was turning the steering wheel without the engine on when all of a sudden I was leaking some type of Fluid. I later learned that the fluid was for my power steering. I then learned that the leak was originating out of the weep hole and only occurred when the engine was not turned on. By taking off the cap, I was able to see that the fluid levels rise while I turn the wheel either way and then lower if I turn the wheel a little in the opposite direction. I then can continue turning the wheel, for a time, before I have to go back a little. This only occurs when the engine is not running. Any ideas why this occurs, if it could be hazardous to my truck, and how I could fix it? Any guidance would be appreciated and thanks in advance.
