Ranger is sluggish
Alright y'all I'm new to this forum stuff but I have a 98 ranger that sounded like it was starving for fuel one day so I parked it and started driving my dodge but today I decided it was time to fix it so checked fuel pump it was running fine and changed fuel filter it starts up and idles fine but when I go to give it the fuel it seems like it just falls on its face and don't got the power to pull a greasy string out of a cats a** but it don't have no get up and go and spits and spuders I've replaced spark plugs a idle control valve and the mass airflow sensor on it but I don't know much bout these rangers so any help would be appreciated

I'm no mechanic so I'm going to go with the easy shit first, you have changed out the fuel from the fuel tank with new fresh fuel correct?

Re: Ranger is sluggish
Check fuel pressure. Even if the pump is running, that doesn't mean that it is pumping enough fuel to run at higher rpms than idle.

Re: Ranger is sluggish
When changing fuel filter does the gas tank have to be near empty? Or is about 1/4 to 1/2 full ok?

So is the CEL on? Even after cranking for a bit soft and hard codes can be stored. Before you throw anymore parts at it hoping it fixes itself. Why dont we talk to the computer and see what its saying...

Depends on how fast you are.. if the pumps not on or the key in the on position, not too much fuel will pass through. I wouldn't recommend being right under it while changing it out but..
