Default This Normal? A/C Flush

1992 Ford Ranger 2wd 4.0L V6

Well I picked to fix my truck's A/C after all these years of having it. I went to flush one of the lines and this what came out (See Viideo) Is that normal?

It's oil and UV dye. Someone likely added refrigerant with built in UV dye or added a UV tracer to the system.

This.. ^^

Suggestion, since the system was opened as you mentioned. Replace all of the O-rings. A kit is like $5.

Be prepared to replace the drier and the orifice tube. and what ever component exposed it to atmosphere.

Read carefully the details for your temperate zones you reside in for the orifice tube best to use. Rockauto info was very helpful. s

Separate the hard lines and the compressor and flush the system well from both directions, rinse with water, blow air through the lines. replace O-rings, reconnect all lines. take it to a shop that will draw that system down for an hr or more. Then have them properly fill based upon ambient temp so its filled properly. keep in mind that doesnt mean its a 100% fill to capacity charge.

enjoy your ice machine...

Why wouldn't it be a 100% fill?

because then the liquid cant compress into a gas and occupy the same space. Its never a 100% fill. Generally is should be honestly somewhere between 70-85% depending on the climate. I'd have to dbl check but I think the hotter the climate (ambient temps) the lesser it is suppose to be which is again why you want them to vacuum it down for an hr or more.

There is a formula to follow for it to correctly work and long term with the same efficacy.

I guess someone put refrigerant with UV die in it but never bothered to fix the leak.
