Something is wrong with my 1998 Ranger brakes.
I am sure the anti-lock brakes are not working.
They are grabbing and the wheels lock up and slide if I press them hard.
THEN the strange part is I hear a clicking noise, just like a blinker sound but faster from my dash. Until I let off the brakes and the clicking stops.

What is that? What should I be checking on the truck?

It's a 1998 range, 4WD

honestly that clicking sound reminds me of when i had a cracked drum in the rear. could be a rotted/broken spring... with olld brakes, who knows til you take them apart lol

and the brakes locking up could be that your shoes in the rear drums are worn out or maybe you have a leaky cylinder and the pads are soaked... they don't work very well at all with brake fluid on them.

though nothing says you don't have a cracked rotor up front either. All of these things can be checked over (and replaced) by yourself pretty easily for the most part. If you need some pointers just let us know!

oh i kinda got ahead of myself lol! might be good to know:
(1) the mileage on the truck?
(2) how old are the brake rotors/pads/drums/shoes?
(3) when the last brake fluid flush was?
