So, I have a 2003 auto Ford Ranger Truck. A few days ago all the sudden my trans started leaking and it is a pretty big leak. I have not had any shifting problems or anything like that. I cannot tell where it is coming from, I do not have a truck lift. I took it to a place and they said something about a broken servo or serbo?? and the only way to fix is having the transmission rebuilt for $1600.00!!! When I took the truck in they told me it would be hours before they could look at it and I said well I would like to see it up on the lift, to see where it is leaking. so I get home and 45 mins later they call me with this Information above. I am a female, and would like to know if I am being scammed? It has happened to me before several times. and I for sure thought it may be a break in the trans casing because I did hit a pothole a few days before that and I had no leak at all prior to this gushing out all the sudden. Can someone please give me and honest opinion? I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much.

welcome to the forum! i think you should get a second opinion based on what i'm reading...even if you have to take it by a dealership service dept. one thing is for sure, be sure that you don't drive it with low fluid.

I have heard of leaking servo covers on rangers, but I have not looked into the solution because it has not happened to me. It seems hard to imagine that the only solution is a reman transmission. I would do some googleing on "ranger leaking servo covers", and get educated.
