Has anyone ever tried Lubeguard Red to quieten a power steering pump? The only reason I haven't replaced my PS pump is because I've been told that even a new one has that awful whining noise. Any other suggestions to try before a replacement? Thanks in advance.

I bought my 99 3.0 2wd at 60k with a noisy ps pump (marker on the radiator support indicated the pump was replaced at 35k) and it stayed noisy till about 210k when I did my v8 swap. now it's quiet. I never had a problem except sound. I tried several different products and the only thing I found to lessen the sound was amsoil marine gear lube but it still whined a bit. the v8 swap totally fixed it so if you want to get rid of noise completely do v8 swap.

rebuilt pumps from the parts stores do in fact whine pretty bad
