Factory Ranger Mirrors (80s)
Could some of the Rangers from the 80s come from the factory with door mounted tow mirrors??
I grabbed a set off an 80s Ranger, on my last trip to a salvage yard. They are Ford brand. Thought they were just add-ons, until I removed them and the doors looked like they were factory made for them. No signs, that there was any other style of mirror. I am in the process of installing them on my truck and doing away with the window corner type. ----- John

Re: Factory Ranger Mirrors (80s)
Those are stock. And not really tow mirrors

I believe they were called, "Low mount, swing away mirrors". They also came on BII's and on full size pickups and vans.

Re: Factory Ranger Mirrors (80s)
And the full-size ones had a different mount. They fit but sit taller.

True, the bolt holes for the baby trucks have them above the arms. On the full size, they're below. IIRC.

Re: Factory Ranger Mirrors (80s)
Pretty sure there was some kind of bracket or bracing on the inside of the door to help support these mirrors. I added some to an old ranger of mine that's originally had the little flag style and the door skin would flex. If there isn't any bracing inside your door, I'd add something.

Re: Factory Ranger Mirrors (80s)
Yes, there was bracing there. I never took the inside panel off, but looking on the outside, I seem to remember it was a threaded fastener of some kind.
