5R55E Transmission Issues - Pressure Solenoid?
1999 (Lets just say Ranger) but Explorer SOHC V6 4.0L automatic. 5R55E tranny. The OD light had been blinking for sometime. It would either not shift into OD or the torque converter wasn't locking up. I checked the fluid last year and it was slightly low. Added fluid, OD light went away for awhile and it shifted fine. This is tranny #2.
It was okay till it didn't make its way home a couple days ago. Went to hook the old tow rope up to it and it had a bit of movement in drive. It doesn't have the burnt clutch smell to it. It's as if there's a lack of hydraulic flow or pressure.
Any guys here experienced with the 5R55E? I read some things about valve body issues. It does move very little and there is no burnt fluid which makes me think it could be something like a solenoid or valve body. I don't feel like scrapping this vehicle because it is in good shape.
Will ForScan give me tranny codes?
