Default Key spins freely in ignition
Hey so I got a '96 Ranger, 5 speed. Last night I went to start it and nothing. The power turned on and is stuck on( lights and radio all on) had to disconnect the battery to shut it off. The key just spins freely in the ignition. Any ideas ?

Failed (wore out) ignition lock, should have been replaced long ago to prevent this common outcome. :-/
