I just bought a 2000 Ranger XLT 4 cyl 5 spd and noticed on the initial drive it had no tach. I was disappointed but figured I could add one later. Drove it tonight and found that all but seemingly one light worked in the cluster. So I went on ebay and found some clusters for sale with a tach figuring I might as well swap the whole thing out with one that includes a tach, replacing the lights as well of course.
So what years are compatible as far as the instrument cluster is concerned?
And what will I need to do in order to get the tach working?

anything 95-03 can be made to work. 98+ should be pretty much plug and play, if you get a 95-97, there may be some minor work needed. also, you can get the white face clusters from explorer sports.

i have one from an 01ish ex sport in my 95. plug and play after moving a resistor around.

Thanks so much for the reply. The one I found is stated as '01 - '03 and mine is a '00. So This will pretty much be a swap and go. Yea! First mod on the way lol.
