Default Air Conditioner weirdness: What do you think?

My 2002 Edge has 85,000 miles on it and I bought it last November.
When activated, the A/C blows the coldest air I've ever experienced in a vehicle before. Then.....after maybe 15 minutes, I get just outside air - not refridgerated at all. I'm not sure if the compressor has cycled off when this occurs. I've replaced the pressure switch which was a reoccuring problem with my '93 Mustang but the Ranger's A/C still does the same thing and blows warm after 10-15 minutes. If you had to guess - am I just low on 134A or is it possible a failing W.O.T. relay is to blame? Have you guys used the auto parts store kits to recharge your Ranger's system? Easy or Pain in the ass?

Thanks

My A/C does the exact same thing, runs for 15 min then all I get is outside air. I turn it off for about 5 min then back on and it will cool again for another 10 min. Works great when it works.

Any ideas would be helpful. Does this sound like air in the system?

A mechanic friend of mine tapped on the AC clutch (while engine running) and it began to spin...then it stopped. Striking it again got it to spin. So he believes my AC clutch is bad. Now the dilema: New AC clutch = $90 (after- market) but new compressor (with clutch) = $125 (after-market). So I guess the smart move is a new compressor?

NO need. Also check to see if you have a vacuum leak. Your blend doors could be getting stuck closed. I'm having this same problem.

My A/C will run nicely for 15 min then the air turns to ambient temps. I turn off the A/C for 5 min then back on. It will then run for 10 min or less. I have to repeat the turn off time and it will run again. I'm close to having this professionally diagnosed but was wondering if anyone here has this same problem. I know there are a number of variables involved but was hoping something similar is happening to someone else.
