Question not sure whats wrong??

k, well last night my friends and I were messin around out in the country long story short i hit a sandpile going bout 30 it was not big at all. but after i hit it i heard a screaching sound, which i believe is just a belt that was wet. Im not worried about that, but wondering if that is what caused this....

last night i was driving a lot on 5 bucks of gas, I went about 33 miles. My truck started chuging and ended up dieing. so i figured out of gas, so i got some.
Just a couple of minutes ago, i was driving and every gear i went into, i would have to over gas it to keep it from dieing. i put 10 in and have gone over 50 miles. Im pretty sure its just im low on gas.
i probally sound retarded. but just wondering about this.

oh one more thing my gas guage is broken so i wach my miles to know if im low. but i think 10 usually gets me more then 50ish.

thanks.

running an older vehicle dry on gas is a NO NO, you suck up all the junk (aka drugs) in the tank from over the years.. fuel filter might be in your future, and cleaning out fuel rail.

thanks for telling me, I just now noticed you guys replied, thanks for your help though. Didn't know how bad it was to run a older truck dry.
