Re: rac and pinion help
I have put in THREE power steering racks in my truck with in one month period. (due to 2 defective "new" racks, one leaked and one chatter)
You are gonna make a freaking mess lol...
DO NOT REMOVE those 2 hard lines on the left of the main section you see that run back to the body itself.
you can drain the reservoir of fluid from the low pressure line before starting that helps a lot. he will have the high pressure line coming in and then the line that goes to the cooler.

Re: rac and pinion help
I remove those two lines first actually. I put an oil pan under there and let it all drain out before I start doing it.

The reason you dont want to is there is an internal seal on those lines if you need to reinstall the rack for some messed up reason there is a possibility the seals can be messed just as me how i know. I hate ranger powersteering racks on T-bar rangers

Re: rac and pinion help
I'm sorry, I was in a rush when I looked at that before. I take off the two lines (that have the red caps in the picture) and let those drain, then pull out the rack. Leave the hard lines alone that are on the rack itself.

you cant cut or take off the hardlines otherwise you wont get your core for the rack if your replacing it. thats part of the core being those lines arnt made anymore.
