Fuel overfilling when tank is near empty
Hey there,
Yesterday I replaced my fuel pump assembly and fuel filter due to bad check valve. I did this one a near empty tank maybe 2 gallons. After the replacement a got some gas at a local gas station and only put 3 gallons in since it wasn't a very good price.
Today, back at my apartment, I went to get gas at my normal station and after about a gallon and a half it clicked off. Not knowing why it did this, I turned the pump back on and gas started coming out and it clicked back off. I looked from the wheel well and it looked like it was coming from where the filler hose meets the truck bed.
I didn't touch the filler pipe yesterday other than disconnecting it so that I could take the bed off. What can I do?
Is it possible the pump was just pumping faster than the house could keep up with?
