Default help me please! already posted in 6 cyl. section.

skip to the second paragraph if you dont want to hear my sob story!

hey everyone first post. just got a ranger its a 1999 with the 3L. for 3,000.00 i knew it was to good to be true. spent all my money on it drove fine the 200 or so miles from jackson ms. to new orleans where i live. monday when i got insurance and all that im driving down the road and it just locked up it felt like. by the way no check engine light was on when i got the truck.... went this morning to read some codes knowing some had to be on even though there was no light to find out the light was disconected and the fuse was takken out. 13 freeking codes. theres no way 13 codes can pop up in 250 miles... so i got ripped off i figure karmas a biotch though so hell get his..

anyway... i was driving down the road the truck just kind of locked up, not the wheel but it just like slowed down and started puttering. as i gave it gas it hardly wants to go anywhere... i changed all the plugs, wires, coil pack, fuel filter... everything i can think of that might make that happen. the crazy thing is it revs up great in park and neutral, the second i put it in drive it just hardly wants to rev and only goes about 2mph till it gets going.... im thinking that maybe in drive it senses a load and wont pick up cause after about 2 minutes when it starts moving it seems to maintain a steady speed. i have no idea what else it could be my neighbor/mechanic thinks maybe a bad computer or no fuel pressure.......
any ideas? anyone? please help me im in a bad spot and really did not want or need these issues with this truck especially right now. any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks very much

well what are the code?
anytime you buy a truck turn the key on engine off, make sure the check engine light is on, that way you know if it works, i alway bring my scanner, it may not see everything but it will tell you if they had the battery out or code cleared befor you got the also.

A plugged catalytic converter will cause a lot of hard to find grief like you describe, especially with AT.

Might be a flood car.
If it is from a dealer it would be fraud, well it is anyway, but it is hard to get anywhere with a private seller.
Check up under the dash for dried mud and dirt. If it was salt water you have your wouk cut out for you cleaning all the electrical connections and replacing corroded components.
It might be worth checking CarFax. They can tell you your car history.
Ohio gives you a salvage title for a rebuilt car, but not all states do.
If this was never turned in to an insurance claim, it would not show up as salvage on CarFax. It may tell you if it was in a flooded area.
Lets hope it is something simple!
Good luck
