Default 98 6 Cyl 3.0 Sputtering

Hello all.

I am posting this for my B-i-L who is having some issues with his Ranger. He bought it used about 3 years ago from the original owner and it was in very good shape. He had a couple other vehicles that he drove so this one actually sat in his garage for about 18 months and was never started. Over the past couple of months he has started driving it again and has had an intermittent issue with it sputtering. It loses pulling power and acts like its not getting any fuel whatsoever.

he uses 88 octane fuel and recently has had the following work done.
- New plugs, wires (today)
- new fuel filter

I have a cousin who has a 99 ranger and he says he has a similar problem when using the low octane fuel.

One more thing to add after talking to him on the phone. when he bought it the previous owner had dual exhausts on it and the check engine light was always on. after taking it to a garage the put a single exhaust on it and that issue was cleared.

sorry for the long post..

thanks

Default missing

Still having issue. Replaced fuel filter, plugs and wires, and the coil. Still misses. No check engine light comes on just a drop in performance.

BUMP BUMP

Need some help.

thanks
