Default ABS Light and Brake Light on Startup

I've recently had a problem with my 2000 Ranger XLT 5 speed. The other night when I was leaving work I started up my truck with the Clutch and the Brake depressed (to prevent from rolling on startup, parking brake is faulty), and when it started up my brake pedal went to the floor. After that my ABS Light and Brake Light came up on the dash. Both have been remained on for the past couple days, my brakes do work still however I have to press the pedal down way farther than normal and I am nervous that eventually they will fail completely.

I spoke with someone in the garage at my job and they said to bleed the brakes? Not sure about that because I am not too familiar with brake problems.

Looking for any help possible, quick fixes, solutions etc.

Thanks in advance.

First look at your brake fluid level.

^^

Also, has it been like that or did it "all of a sudden" feel really spongey?

When it went to the floor on startup it was spongy going down and it has been spongy since then.

Have you checked the fluid level yet? If it is low you probably have a line with a hole it.

You know what I feel like an idiot, first thing I should've done was check the fluid. The fluid is low, so what would be the best course of action? Should I just add fluid and let it be or add it and bleed the brakes all in one?

First check to make sure the wheel cylinders and all lines are not leaking.

Then check your brake pad thickness. If your pads are at the end of their life, your master cylinder will have a lot less fluid than when your pads are new.

Low fluid doesn't necessarily mean a leak.

Then bleed it for shits n giggles.

After you have done all this ^^ then top off the master cylinder and keep checking regularly.
