Default Instant MPG on older OBDI rangers

Is there any way to get instant mpg ratings on older rangers (OBDI, about 1995 and previous)? Something like an ultraguage would be nice but all I really want is real time mpg's. From what I have read elsewhere every manufacturer is different on obdI? Is there anything available or anything that can be built to measure this?

I was considering a vacuum guage but I dont know if that will really help or not or give me very precise info?

An mpguino is the only option you have.

Why not just calculate it every fill up?

I do that and have done that since I got the truck, but what I'm intersted in is the instant mpg, not the average. Thing like at 100km/hr do I get better mpg in 4th or OD? Lots of people have theories on where best mpg are found but I can't find a consistent driving style to give me the best mpg. Driving it unloaded and under limit I can get 22mpg and loaded over the limit I can get 27mpg, but the next time it will be the opposite.

Also helpful in determining shift points on hills, I can climb every hill in OD but most likely get better mpg in 4th or maybe 3rd but who knows without an instant mpg reading.
