Default A/c Question

I got my other vehicles list below, and they are different. For some reason in my Ranger if I put the control to "Max A/C" the air is super cold, no matter what I put the knob to, even if I put it all the way in the red. My other vehicles even my Expedition do not do this. You can control how cold the air is even with max A/C. In my ranger though the only way to control the coolness of the air coming through is to put it on just A/C. Is this normal?

Does it blow heat with the heater on and the temp dial in the red?

This is normal on Ford vehicles now. When you put it on Max AC, it closes a valve on the heater core shutting off the flow of hot coolant.

Isn't MAX A/C for just that! When you have the interior cool enough then you switch to one of the other A.C modes?? My manual says that in Max the A/C is recycling interior air and with all of the other A/C modes it uses exterior air source. I don't believe that Max A/C is adjsutable for temperature.

It is adjustable on my 11 ford f250 and my expedition. Weird though.

This is correct. In all positions except Max AC it is drawing air from outside. On Max AC it closes the outside intake and draws air from under the dash by the floor (in addition to closing the heater core valve).

I suppose this is Ranger only. My girls Ford Focus being a 08 allows control of temp on max A/C as well... It will not blow hot air, but it will allow "less" cooler air to be blown, essentially upping the temp a bit. I know when Max A/C Off I can control my temps a bit better, but Max A/c On is neat in the sense often you are just recycling the air in the vehicle, and that can be a good thing if you were say mudding in some mud that stunk bad.... So you weren't pulling outside air in directly.... and yes going from reg A/C to max A/C lets more stink in I've tested this theory several times.... with numerous amounts of road kill in the areas haha.
