Default battery cover

I just bought my 1999 Ranger and after looking under the hood, I realize there is a piece missing that goes over the battery to hold it in place. It looks like the previous owner just put in a new battery but the battery is basically just sitting there and is not held in place. I think there's a metal piece that goes over the top of the battery to hold it in place. Any ideas where I can find that part number or a diagram so I can figure out how to buy that part?

Should not have a bracket over it. Just a wedge and a bolt that hold the bottom of the battery to the tray.

Can you wiggle the battery?. If not then the wedge and bolt are in place.

Any tie-down that goes over the battery in a Ranger is aftermarket. From the factory, it's exactly as FUzzyBUnny described. Look at the side of the battery's base facing the center of the engine. There's a little block held in with one bolt that secures it. It also wedges in on the other side, so it's plenty secure. Unless you're gonna be driving through 5.0+ earthquakes or constantly upside-down, it's good enough. You can add a strap on there if you want, but that's kinda like nailing some wooden planks behind a titanium door. The door ain't gonna break, and if it does, that planks aren't gonna help.
