Default 89 cab on 98 chassis?

Im wanting to put my 89 standard cab on a 98 ranger frame. The 98 frame is from an extended cab, is there any problems i would run into doing this swap?

I'm not sure, but wouldn't the extended cab frame be longer?
It has a longed wheelbase as well (?)

I saw this swap on a ranger at my local scrap yard, it looked great! Even though people started tearing it apart already. It looked like it was in good shape

Not sure bout pre 93, but I know I had the same thought a while back, but was gonna put a 95 std. cab on a 99 std cab chassis. I know that the difference was like 4", the cab mounts measured to be in same place, but the 98 up frames are 2 piece, so my thought was to drill out the 16 rivets, move the rear frame section 4" forward & bolt or weld it. Beds interchange without any problems 93-08, is 09 they went to 10 bolts instead of 6.

Definitely keep us informed PLEASE!

Another forum I looked at said they would all swap. 82-10. It said the only difference was 2wd and 4wd have different mounts in the front. Did I get some bad info here? Here's the link,

I posted on that thread too.......

I did some checkin today when I had some time and this is what I know via FORD CPD Catalogin:

By Base PN# 5005 Frame Assy:
83-88
89-91
92 is a yr in itself
93-97
98-03
04-06
07-08
09-11 ten bolt beds

Now, I know that from 98 up are a 2 piece frame and are A-arm & Torque rod setups.

What I have no way of verifyin is if the cab mounts are in same location thru the years.

I was always under the idea that the 83-92 frames were narrower, but not for a fact. I may look into suspension PN#'s to see if the I-beams are same from 83-97, if they are, then that would mean they are the same width. I just thought of that as I was typin!
