Default Z-Max....does it work????

Does anyone here have any practical experience to share regarding these products? I see it advertised all the time but haven't talked to anyone who is using it. Dave....I did a search here to see if I could find a thread about it and couldn't

Go to this link:

Also do a web search on zmax.

Thanks littleblue. I read the link that you posted....WOW! I should have searched the internet but I have become so entranced by the info available here that I just came right to the Ranger Forum for an answer. I am a regular here to read what others have to say about mods and products and find the whole site is A1. There is nothing that takes the place of personal experience. So......"Z-Max sucks" is my new motto. Dave PS- this proves that one should be wary of anecdotal evidence.

Other than using seafoam through the intake manifold, there is nothing you can pour in your tank that actually does anything. They're all equally full of BS.

When my dad and I used both the gas and oil Z-max treatments in his f-150 we noticed a 2-3 mpg increase...

The increase was caused by something totally unrelated to the z-max. It could be any combination of temporary factors from math, pumps differences, wind, temperature, driving style, terrain, etc etc etc. I can assure you, the perceived increase had NOTHING to do with that junk.

IMHO, when people start spending money on improving their MPG they become more conscious towards trying to improve their MPG, and with MPG constantly on their mind they likely drive in a different manner than they otherwise would. Thus, seeing an improvement.

Exactly. Just like the people who pour a can of octane booster in their gas tank and proclaim a noticable jump in HP and acceleration... before the gas in the tank even get sucked into the fuel line.

real funny thing though, is that we consistantly got 12-13, and with the same driving circumstances, got around 15-16....pretty funny that it's completely unrelated. Especially seeing that the truck got 12-13 mpg on a consistant basis.
