Hello, my name is Kyle, this is my first post, I have recently purchased a ford ranger, a 2002xlt with the 4.0 litre engine, the only issue is the fact it only had one key, the bigger issue is the fact that I lost that key yesterday, as it is a habit of fords to erase the key codes ever 10 years and mine is a 2002... I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to acquire these codes for older cars, I cannot afford to hire a locksmith and replacing the ignition switch and door lock internals is also to expensive... Any ideas?

That is ABSOLUTELY not true.

However, you will either need to see a Ford dealer or maybe a properly equipped locksmith to cut and program a few keys for you. If you cannot afford it now then no real biggie, you just won't be driving it until you can afford the fix, it's just that simple. Slab of metal (pickup truck) has no mercy, feelings or emotions.
