Default 1998 Ranger 3.0 4x4

Has anyone ever tried converting a ranger from 4 wheel drive to two wheel drive? I've done a little bit of research and found that all I should have to do is change spindles. I think I remember something about different sized rotors when I did my breaks last time. Will I need to swap rotors, calipers and pads also? Any tips greatly appreciated.

Why in the world would you do that? You would be money ahead to sell it and buy a 2wd.

I have me this 12 gauge shotgun. But what I could really use is a really swell water pistol... is there a conversion kit for that?

I'm broke and don't wanna pay $140 for each wheel bearing. Truck has 315k on it and is my daily driver.

If your hubs aren't trashed you can replace just the bearing for less than $50 total. If there is shop that can press your old one out and put the new ones in. Or if you have access to a press.

Them are for 2 wheel drive... I thought. I bought the whole hub and bearing assembly for the passenger side a few months back and it was a quick swap. The drivers side was in need of repair then but I never replaced it and tonight it finally gave out. When I get the spindle off tomorrow I'll try to get the bearing out.

2WD doesn't have hub assemblies, they are incorporated into the brake rotors but use serviceable bearings, races, and mount to a spindle.

That is kind of the reason I want to go to 2 wheel drive spindles hubs are expensive. Anyone know for sure if this will work and what I need to do.
