How long can I expect my Ranger to last?
It's a 98 2wd 3.0 5 speed with 312xxx kms.. Just wondering how long I should expect it to last. My dad said that I probably shouldn't Rev it past 3000.. Do I have to be that careful with it? It was never abused

That's alot of miles. What all maintenance has been done and what all parts have been replaced ? If it is running well, good tires, all suspension and drivetrain good-to-go, oil & filter changed and topped off, tranny serviced, brakes good enough to stop you, rev it up to 5000 now and then won't hurt and is sometimes necessary when merging into traffic. HOWEVER ... Always listen to your parents.

Re: How long can I expect my Ranger to last?
My 3.0l has 272xxx kms. They are apparently known to get up to 300xxx MILES which is like 480xxx kms. Just take care of her and make sure all your fluids are always topped up.

My 1993 XLT is 21 years old and still kicking...miles don't count as much as acres when it comes to trucks.

Your truck should last for a while as long as you take care of it and not abuse it. Just keep up with the regular maintenance and it should be good for a long time.

Recently it got brand new rotors/pads, brake shoes in the back, alternator, starter, newer upper intake, new egr tube, probably more but I can't remember. The transmission also has around 150xxx kms on it. Every now and then the truck drops the rpms down and almost stalls at idle. My dad thinks that it's the throttle position sensor, but when you're off idle the truck works perfectly.

The drop in rpms could be a dirty or bad MAF or IAC. I'd clean those and see if it solves the problem.

Re: How long can I expect my Ranger to last?
When it does something curious, run the codes and see what they tell you.
Acres vs mileage = offroad use vs onroad/highway miles. There's a big difference.

So I plugged in my code reader in my truck today and the only code it gave me is PO102- mass or volume air flow circuit low input. Does that mean my mass air flow sensor is bad?
----------
Ok I missed a couple codes... It also said PO443- evaporative emission system purge control valve circuit. And PO171- system too lean (Bank 1)
