Default Clutch or slave cylinder?

How do you tell if it's only the slave cylinder that's bad and not the clutch too. I thought that if the clutch didnt stink like burnt clutch its still good, but the master cylinder is still good so do you think i need only replace the slave? Thanks!

Never mind figured it out. The slave was just plain worn out the clutch is still good.

When replacing one, it's a good idea to replace everything, slave, master and ofcourse clutch, get the flywheel resurfaced if need be, I still gotta do all that myself, got everything just need the master

I always replace everything inside the bell housing, just so I know that I've got all new stuff in there so I don't have to drop the transmission again in 20k miles to replace something else.

The master, I don't worry about replacing unless it's bad, since replacing it doesn't involve dropping the transmission.

Also, if the slave was leaking and got fluid on the clutch surface, then it should be replaced too.
