Default key problem

i purchased a 2001 ford ranger xlt supercab 4d on saturday and i went to home depot today to get a key made just to unlock the doors.. he cuts one and i see f it works.. it doesnt he cuts another doesnt work so i get my money back and when im leaving i tried the only key i got with the car and it doesnt unlock the doors on either side but it will start the car.. for me to get in my car i need to use the keyless entry.. anybody knows why this is or how should i go about this problem?

Is it a problem with both doors? The key could be worn out. Might have to go the the dealer and get a key made. I believe they use the VIN to get the key cut specs. If the key works in one dor but not the other, the tumbler might be bad.

I had this issue with my truck also I just had the lockes on the doors re keyed to the key I had it was only $15 a lock and they are every easy to remove yourself and some say its not hard to rekey ether but i just left it up to a locksmith.
