Removing Air filer box
Been trying to remove the air filter box on my ranger and its extremely difficult
I have seen people do it online but mine just doesn't want to give up, and I don't want to pull too hard because I don't want to break it.
Can it be removed on my year? 2002?
If it can what can I use to make it easier to remove....thanks

Re: Removing Air filer box
spray wd40 in the holes in the bottom of it and yank. It'll give eventually and its made out of pretty strong plastic so i doubt you'll be able to break it

I did it the same way on my 2000 when I did the air box mod, I used WD-40 it is a tight fit.

Concentrate dirty air to a single spot on the air filter. Not smart. Stok is best with afe pro drys air filter.

I'm getting a MAC intake on my 5.0 so I won't have an airbox for long, i just never really knew what that mod actually did. Like performance gains and such

Best way is to spray wd-40 in the holes, get a screw driver worked in the holes from the top and keep working it back and forth. Takes some patience and little grunt and it'll come out. I've had it done since I've owned my truck with a k&n filter, cleaned it twice and reoiled it both times. No problems. One of the better mods I've done, combine that with cleaning all the sensors and the throttle body, and the throttle cable mod, truck really woke up!

Re: Removing Air filer box
I did the air box mod a few weeks ago. Don't think it will do much for my 2.3, but I got bored and wanted to do something. Getting the box out was the easy part. Getting it back in was a challenge but it finally went.

But OP the first time getting it out is a major bitch just spray some wd40 and let it sit for a couple minutes then pull like your trying to lift the truck off the ground it'll give up the fight eventually haha

None. It just makes the air flowing into the box "louder". After a day or two you get used to it and you don't notice it any more.
