Default Seperating the front & back frame

I have a 98´2WD ext. cab that I use for my daily drive.
Living in Denmark means salty roads in the winter. I need to do somethig about the rust in the rear of the frame. So I have come up with an idea that I would to hear opinions on.

It seems like the frame is rivited together behind the cab. If I cut/drill the rivets out and replace the rear frame with a better one.
Are there any difference in the different models. Can I put at long bed rear on my truck?

/Shane

Well, so far I have bought a 1997 Ranger and discovered that the frames as not equal. But I hope to use the rear frame rails anyway. The frame rails seem OK but the crossmembers are rustet away.
Have an idea about boxing the rear frame for strenght

Problems you would run into with a long bed is your wire harness to the rear lights will not be long enough. I don't know for sure but the gas tank may mount differently with long bed.

As long as its only wiring I can fix it.
I have looked into it, and it seems like that I will need to extent the frame if I want a long bed. That could be a solution.
Does anybody know if the long bed is 8 feet or shorter?

X2 7' bed. Iirc the gas tank will mount different because the long beds only came on single cabs so, the filler neck may not line up with the whole in the bed.
