Default 2.5 to 4.0 swap tips needed

Got a 2001 2.5 ranger xlt with 289k on the clock that finally died. Just bought a deal on a wrecked 2001 sport track that I plan on swapping the goodies from. I have searched threads, so ... Seems that most info is on 5.0swaps, not anything on 2.5 to 4.0's. Any help is appreciated. I am a seasoned service director at a dealership , just looking for tips, warnings, and suggestions on the swap. Not looking for "lower it" or "put a 5.0 in it" or "why not this, that, or the other moments. Let's keep this on subject please guys. Thanks in advance!

Lay off him Rich. It's the guys first post and he doesn't want people like you who don't add anything good to the thread.

Good luck with your swap, I know it's been done before and you should be able to get some help.

You first. What did you bring to the thread?

Motor mounts should be the same, you will need the PCM and wiring harness from the 4.0 engine vehicle and should be able to use the trans from either, whichever is in better shape. I'd look into some heavier duty springs for the front to compensate for the extra weight. With you having the 4 cyl you probably have the lightest duty ones.

sorry, Ive been on another forum for 15 years or so and I have seen how these things can go in the wrong direction fast. I always appreciate a good joke and good info, but there is always a snarky mofo who gets off on bashing somebody thread so..
