Truck won't crank or start. Problem mighy be PATS.
Guys I need your help!!!
My 2002 Ford Ranger (3.0L, 2WD) was working fine 3 days ago and the next day, it did not want to crank or start.*
Here is the background on my truck. I bought the truck used 4 years ago and it had an anti theft system (box located below driver side) that used a remote control. About a year and a half ago, I lost my one and only remote control and a nearby Ford dealership said that they could not make an extra one. So I decided to remove the anti theft system myself and connect the wires that I needed. The only 2 wires that I needed were the "ignition" (red) and "key" (red/blue). After connecting these two wires together, the truck worked fine. Every now and then, the wires would become loose, preventing the truck form starting, but after reconnecting them, it worked just fine.
So 2 days ago, my truck did not want to crank. The radio and headlights worked just fine, so it is not the battery. I determined that it has something to do with the anti theft system kicking in and cutting off power to the starter and fuel pump. It could be something between these two wires.
Has anyone ever had a similar problem? All help will be appreciated!!!
