Default Pulling to the right

'88 ranger 2.0 4 cyl (no power brakes)
Truck is pulling rlly hard the right then I'll hit the brakes and will only gradually pull to the right then hit them again and it will pull rlly hard again.
Got out and smoke come from right front tire.
I was told a while back my bearings on that side were going bad. So while I'm in there I'll prob replace them, but real question what's causing the brakes not to let go completely? My guess is calipers not releasing all the way. Any ideas? Suggestions on how best to fix it? This will be first time doing this kinda of thing.

i'm guessing the smoke smelled like brake pads right? it's unique imo lol

& yes i had caliper stick on my 83 ranger. caused a lockup situation just like you mentioned.

edit: could be as simple as the slider pins corroded (can find them at parts store) or could be pistons sticking (would be best to replace caliper in this case)

I had a van that would pull hard right ,then left would catch up and it would stop straight. The problem was a collapsed left side brake hose. I just had problems with my 85 bronco2 4wd's right front brake locking up. It got smoking hot. I put on new calipers and brake lines. Haven't had any problems, but I have only driven 50 miles or so. Hope this helps!
