Default Brand new pads rotors bearings 05 supercab 2WD still chattering and grinding!!!???

Previous thread on this broke everything down to parade rest greased pins and back of pads as someone on here suggested. Backed a lil torque off my castle nut for the bearings. Inspected surfaces all looks good no gouges or marks. Put it all back together everything is workin order till I stop at 30mph now both do it even worse like WTF over 250 dollars in this and they sound worse than before I replaced all this shit. Is it bad pads bad rotors I rotated tires front to rear could that be issue everything stock and oem parts I'm at a loss. I did not think to clean pads idk need suggestions and fast!!! Every thing had warranty to it's at no cost but I'm tired of taking it apar to put it back together and still not fixed!

----------

I did not go cheap either Wagner rotors and mid grade break best pads auto zone 50 total. Please make suggestions I'm not a certified mechanic but I'm pretty seasoned w breaks but this has got me thrown to me bad pads possibly dirty idk it used to just be when they were hot now it's constant chatter grind noise both sides sounds HORRIBLE

----------

100 a piece on rotors and orielly bearings and seals

----------

I am ruling out a bearing issue just because the sound being made but I'm not a certified mechanic just logic and country boy commons sense could be wrong

What was the reason that lead to the front brake job in the first place? Was it noise or were the pads/rotors merely at/beyond their wear limits?

On edit: Got a caliper(s) that are stuck/hanging/not releasing?

Are the bearings new? What brand? Was the grinding there before the work? Did you use slotted rotors? What did you torque the nut to?

Sounds like you used metalic break pads. They make a lot of noise.

They were ready to be done just past wear limits. Broke it all down again going to take the pads back as soon as I get a ride. I remembered I did not put that pack of goop on the pad when I got the new ones thought it was for the pins through it out was that for the pads lol. The bearings soon freely took the whole rotor off everything seems good packed w grease no noticeable damage to bearing. What's y'all's concensus new pads put goop on wear in properly? The rotors look perfect cleaned them w break cleaner just now

----------

Bearings 2 months old brand cheap ones at orielly 8 bucks a piece. No grinding before. I torqued nut to snug then backed off no noticeable play. Thought I may have had it to tight so backed it out more then just touched it to snug. I'm looking at the bearings right now they look fine but I'm not 100 percent there is no whistle or humming just grinding when breaks applied

----------

I can seriously feel all this in the break pedal stops the second I let off ..... Lol at a damn loss boys I like rotors that are not on a spindle and held on w lugs!

No not like that had the highway speed wabble when applied from old worn rotors they were horrible. This noise has been of recent when breaks get real hot but now since I broke all down and re out back together today both do it even more so!

----------

Chatter squeeking and grinding in one worse as I apply pedal harder!

I don't use "goop" on my pads and I don't have problems.

-----------------

Condition of rear brakes? When driving, if you pull the parking brake release and press on the parking brake, how does it feel?

***Some questions above remain unanswered.

Default Re: Brand new pads rotors bearings 05 supercab 2WD still chattering and grinding!!!??

2 months ago man breaks really bad needed to be done no grinding just wabble from warped and worn rotors. Replaced bearings inner outer and seals new rotors left races that came in rotor. New pads Wagner rotors 100 a piece 50 dollar pads. All was good it was still rather cold out. I had thought maybe I had my castle nut a little tight just a hunch no real reason of thinking that backed it off and then back to just snug. Couple weeks later as weather warmed grinding chatter from right side after several hard stops ONLY from pedal being applied. Let it be for a month I'm in the navy had to leave for a few weeks. Now this weeks it's worse after only 2 stops instead of several. I did not grease my pins or use the break pad goop if that's what it was the first time I did all this. Broke all down to parade rest today visually inspected greased pins an back of pad as someone on here suggested from previous thread of same problem. Put all back together now both do it when pedal applied just at 20 miles an hour no prolonged break use. It's all tore apart yet again taking pads back when I have ride just inspected my outer bearing seems fine looked at the inner as best I could w out removing seal and taking out seems fine. Both spin perfectly and have no play when pad and caliper removed. That's beginning to end

----------

Parking break works decent havnt really engaged while driving but if it's on and I try and back out a drive way it won't let me go anywhere w out feeling it

----------

No slotted rotors my friend oem replacement parts from autozone mid grade Wagners!

To be honest I have no clue. I would torque the nut to spec just for giggles. I only use Timkin bearings. Maybe somehow the bearings are screwed and the brake pressure exasperates it!

----------

Did you compare the new and old rotors? Did the new ones come with the a new race ( i know I'm reaching )

On Both sides....? U don't think this has anything to do with pads? I am praying it's not the bearings!

----------

Yes the new rotors came with pre installed race I did not use the one that came with the bearings.

----------

that's the new pads and rotors as they sit......

----------

Okay what about this what are the torque specs on the castle nut lol

----------

I want to add there is less that 1500 miles on all these new parts!!

See what others say. I have no real idea. Not sure how pads would make a grinding sound on their own?

Y'all not going to believe this. Got the pads back to advanced guy there had a ranger himself and recently installed same pads. Very knowledgeable fella! Turns out my pads are ceramic. The pack of good was for the clips that hold the pad in to allow them to travel in and out with the caliper. Since ceramic produces a lot of heat mine were basically stuck. Or not moving freely causing chatter and grinding. Exchanged the pads anyway and got the goop on there good as new stops better than the day I did it before this whole mess started happening. Something as simple as some grease rates for 3,000 degrees lol

----------

Thank you for all ur thoughts and input gentleman sorry if I confused y'all very thankful to have my truck back to normal few more tweeks and I'm done with her for a good 50,000 miles lol. Inner outer tie rod ends and tranny filter and fluid swap that's it!! Firestone wants 350 for the tie rod end job I don't see myself being able to do that any of y'all done it urself and then just taken it in for an alignment after

----------

One more thing this is by far the best forum for a guy to figure anything out with his truck. Saved myself a good thousand dollars already through ppls advice and giving me the confidence to get under the truck and do It myself lol.
